Hello, and welcome to my blog!! 🙂 To give you a little background information on myself, my name is Alana, I live in a small town in Illinois with my boyfriend and dachshund, and I’ve been writing in a diary for as long as I can remember. I’ve found writing about my thoughts/feelings/experiences to be very therapeutic, and I’m so thankful to have all of those extra memories! I kept a diary for a total of 20 years, from ages 8-28, and decided to create this blog to share some of those entries. In 2010, I decided to embark on the painstaking process of typing up all of my past diaries. I did this for a few reasons – to see how long it would be, to be able to share it easily with friends/family members, and to have a back-up in case anything ever happens to the originals. It took a few years for that project to be completed, but in the end I had around 1,000 typed pages! My plan for this blog is to start from the beginning by posting my first diary entry from 1993 when I was eight years old, and then working my way up until my last entry in 2014 when I was 28 years old. As you can imagine, it will take a looong time to post 20 years of material, but I plan on posting at least one entry a day. My diary documents a lot of tough times that I experienced, such as problems getting along with friends/family members, dealing with death/disease, relationship issues, etc. but it also captured a lot of positive moments – falling in love for the first time, graduating from college and being totally independent, and fun times with family/friends. Hopefully you will be able to relate to at least one subject that I write about, so feel free to send me a comment or email to share your experience! Just to make it more interesting, I will be posting some of my own commentary to let you know my current thoughts on these diary entries. Please do not take anything that you read too seriously – most of it is meant to be humorous, so laugh, be nostalgic, and enjoy the roller coaster! 🙂
