Excited for 2003! :)

2003

01/01/03:  This is the last entry for this diary! Anyway, about the whole Chad thing – he said the reason he danced on that girl at Stone Country was because Nick told him that every time Paul comes home from ISU I’m all over him, and he got mad. That’s not true at all, but I know that’s something Nick would say. There was a time in the past where Nick tried to make a move on me and I denied him, so he’s probably just jealous. Chad and I stopped talking for a few weeks after that, and it was so weird because we live 45 minutes apart and I would somehow run into him everywhere I went. It’s just awkward. I went to Stone Country, the mall, Marci’s, and this other pool hall called Dave’s and saw him at all those places. What are the chances we would be there at the same time? The whole time we weren’t talking I found myself thinking about him constantly. It’s so crazy – why can’t I get over him after what he did? Two nights ago when I ran into him we just ignored each other, and then when I got home at like 1:00 in the morning, I got online. He was on, and we actually talked for the first time in awhile. Now things are really confusing! I’m going to start a new diary soon, so I’ll write about all that later. I still have to write about Christmas and New Year’s Eve, which was last night. Well, I have to finish cleaning my room and Brian just called, so yeah! Excited for 2003! 🙂

Commentary: Most years of my life blur together, but there are some that stand out and 2003 is definitely one of them. Usually I consider a particular year as being either good or bad overall, but 2003 was one of the worst/best years of my life. Guess you’ll have to continue reading to find out what happens 🙂 I can’t believe I started blogging diary entries from when I was 8 years old (although I had to delete those due to my book deal) and now, a little over a year later, I’m only to the year 2003. It’s ridiculous how much time I spent writing in my diary. There’s many more diary entries to come, although I’m not completely sure if I’ll be blogging my college experience.

It Was Serious Dirty Dancing

12/14/02:  Today would be my anniversary with Jordan if we were still together. It would have been a year and ten months. I just thought about that as I wrote the date. Anyway, what to talk about? Things with Chad and I are basically over. Everything was going so great and of course something had to mess that up. Last night Cara and I went to Stone Country and I didn’t even know Chad was going to be there, but he showed up. So I went over to him and he gave me a hug and kiss and told me how great it was to see me, yadda yadda. So then I went back over to where my friends Cara and Brooke were sitting and figured Chad would come too, but he just stayed over on the other side of the room with Nick and Ryan. So like an hour went by and I didn’t see or talk to him at all. A slow song started playing and I thought for sure he would come ask me to dance, but he didn’t. So I had no idea if he left or what. Then this guy Andy asked me to dance and it was already the second slow song and Chad apparently wasn’t going to ask me, so I said sure and danced with him. I don’t know if Chad saw us dancing or not. Then I went and talked to Cara more until she left to go dance. As I’m sitting there, I see Chad go dancing across the floor by himself, and thought oh okay, he is still here. Then a few minutes later, Cara came running up to me. She was like, “Oh my God, I looked over and Chad was seriously all over some girl.” I was like, what the hell? I figured she was looking at the wrong person thinking it was Chad because she had just met him for the first time last night. I got up to get where I could see, and sure enough, there he is dancing on some girl. Honestly I wanted to start crying because I was upset of course, but I also was in shock that he would be doing that right in front of me. I really couldn’t believe what was happening. I could only look for about 30 seconds and that was all I could take, but Brooke and Cara who were standing right there could see the whole thing. They said he wasn’t just dancing normally with her, it was serious dirty dancing. I really didn’t want to hear that. Well I have things I gotta go do, so BYE!

Commentary: Oh how I miss going to Stone Country. It was basically a bar with a huge dance floor that you didn’t have to be 21 to get into. I’m definitely not a fan of country music or any kind of line dancing, but they played country/pop music early on in the night, then completely switched over to rap around midnight. This made for a very interesting group of people – ones who liked country, ones who liked rap (me), and old creepy men who sat at tables and watched the young girls dance. There’s not a lot to do when you grow up in a small town, so going to “Stone” was always a fun time and I was able to create many great memories. Today’s photo is of a book of matches from my scrapbook that I apparently wanted to treasure forever.

We Watched “Dharma and Greg” on TV

12/01/02:  A lot has happened since the last time I wrote in here. Okay, Chad and I met at Marci’s in Washington and hung out for about two hours. We also shared a kiss in the parking lot.  That was about two weeks ago. Then on Friday night, I was bored and went to Marci’s and met up with some people there. I was just sitting there talking to my friend David when all of a sudden I saw Nick walk in and was like woah, haven’t seen him in forever, and right behind him was Chad! We talked for about an hour and I watched him play pool. He gave me a kiss in front of everyone. Then I gave him a ride back to his house and we just hung out and watched Dharma and Greg on TV. About seven of his friends showed up and one was his ex girlfriend, Bethany. She and I had a little private talk, and she told me that Chad likes me a lot and has been looking for a good girl like me. Paul’s friend Chris told me one time that Chad has cheated on every girlfriend he’s ever had. Even Paul told me he’s sat right there and watched Chad cheat on his girlfriend, so I asked Bethany about that. She told me no way, he isn’t like that. So I really don’t know who to believe! Anyway, I actually really am getting to like Chad a lot. There’s just something about him – he’s very charismatic. Anyway, Thursday the 28th was Thanksgiving, and my sister flew home from Florida and surprised everyone. My brother and I were the only ones who knew about it. Thanksgiving was at my aunt’s house this year. She just moved into a cute new house in East Peoria. Today I went with my mom and sister to Millikin University to drop my brother off. That basically took up my whole day. I also had to take a roll of film for photography class. That sucked! Oh, and last night, my mom, sister, and I went to go see a movie called My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was supposed to be funny, but I personally didn’t think it was all that great. Then we went out to eat at the Olive Garden. I love that place! Anyway, my brother forgot his textbooks here and everyone is mad and yelling, so I’m gonna go. I miss Chad!

Commentary: It’s kinda crazy that I went to see “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” back then and 14 years later they decide to come out with a sequel.  My feelings about the movie haven’t changed much – my mom recently tried to convince me to see the second one, but I refused.  On a side note, how cool would it be if “My 20-Year Diary” became a podcast??  It’s just a little idea I had, although I know absolutely nothing about how to create a podcast, I think it would be really fun to do one that involves nostalgia, the 90’s, and reading/commenting on some of my old diary entries.
